Rappahannock Friends and Lovers of Our Watershed

5.      Merry Minuet 2016  (to the tune of “They’re rioting in Africa, lalalalalalala”

The polar bears are drowning, la, la, la, la, la, la,la;
The forests’ ablaze, la, la, la, la, la, la;
The ice sheets are melting, la, la, la, la, la, la, la;
And the rain forests razed, la, la, la, la, la, la.

The climate is changing, the megastorms churn;
Diseases move north and the heat waves burn;
With hunger and refugees, and waters run dry;
If it weren’t a big hoax, it could make you cry!

But will we wake up now our planet to save;
Or heads in the sand let delay dig our grave?
Though deserts are spreading, and coastlands
   drown,
We can’t let the bonuses go down.
(Not till the whole shebang comes crashing down!)

The polar bears are drowning, la, la, la, la, la, la,la;
Too bad for our Mother Earth, la, la, la, la, la, la;
But here’s what we need to ask- la, la, la, la, la, la, la
What’s a home for our children worth? Hmm….
